MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team swept visiting Georgia College 3-0 in a Peach Belt Conference contest Oct. 19 at Trustmark Arena.
The Falcons swept the three sets 25-13, 25-14, 25-14.
Senior Manyi Ati led Montevallo (15-6 overall, 8-3 in Peach Belt Conference) with 13 kills in the victory. Ati added 10 digs as she posted her ninth double-double of the season.
Fellow senior Michelle Carle contributed 12 kills. Junior Katie Best chipped in eight kills, while sophomore Rebekah Phelps added seven kills and eight digs.
Senior Kaleigh Harvey led Montevallo with 26 digs. Sophomore Briana Marquez paced the Falcons with 40 assists in the win.
The Falcons opened the match with a 25-13 win in the first set. Ati provided a pair of kills down the stretch as Montevallo capped the match with a 10-3 run.
Phelps came through with a pair of kills, including one for the final point, late in the second set to help the Falcons pick up a 25-14 win in the frame.
Montevallo used a 14-1 run midway through a dominant fourth set, which helped the Falcons close out the sweep with a 25-14 win in the set.
The Falcons return to action Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a trip to Columbus, Ga. to take on Columbus State University in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
