Falcons shut down Sailfish for a 2-0 win

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Montevallo men's soccer team was riding high heading into Saturday's non-conference matchup with the explosive Sailfish from Palm Beach Atlantic, having won their last two matches. The Sailfish's prolific offense had led them to an impressive 7-2-1 record heading into their match with the Falcons, but Montevallo's defense reigned supreme in this matchup and they were able to defeat Palm Beach Atlantic 2-0 for their third straight victory.

Familiar faces were at the head of the Falcon victory. The first goal of the contest was scored at just 8:05, and it was Bruno Mbamala who gave Montevallo the early lead. Team assist leader Ricky Davey extended his lead by setting up the Mbamala tally.

Davey would not be done helping the Montevallo cause, as he would score a goal of his own at 59:30 to extend the lead to two goals. This would prove to be the last score of the game, as the Falcons' stout defense refused to yield any goals to the Sailfish.

The Falcons' goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway kept a clean sheet, stopping all six shots on goal.

Montevallo will play another non-conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 29. They will head up to North Carolina to take on Catawba at 3 p.m.
