Falcons fall to Cougars 2-1

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team came into Wednesday night's matchup with the Columbus State Cougars having earned at least one point in four straight matches. The Falcons put forth a valiant effort, but the vaunted Cougars prevailed 2-1.

The first score of the game came at 10:28, as the Cougars took a quick 1-0 lead. Mandy Janowitz was able to put the ball in the top left corner of the net.

Montevallo would be able to respond, though, and tied the game up before halftime. Paige Scott recorded the sixth goal of her senior season, after Emma Greenwood found her with a long ball for the score.

In the second half, Columbus State was able to pull away. At 58:03, Nicole Corcione netted her ninth goal on the season. Her goal would be the final tally of the contest, as the Cougars defeated the Falcons by the final score of 2-1.

Montevallo will play their final regular season game of the year on Saturday, November 2nd. They will travel to Young Harris for a match with the Mountain Lions that will begin at 3:30 p.m.
