GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of Montevallo men's soccer team fell to host Lander University 3-1 in a Peach Belt Conference match Oct. 5.
Lander netted two goals in the final 30 minutes to defeat the Falcons.
The Bearcats' Chris Hobbs gave Lander a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when he fired a penalty kick past Montevallo senior goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway.
The Falcons (3-6 overall, 1-3 in Peach Belt Conference) netted the equalizer in the 59th minute when senior Jackson Tolleson beat Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen to tie the match at 1-1.
Lander responded quickly with a pair of goals to put the Falcons away.
Clement Dauchy scored the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute before Gillaume Pommett added another goal off an assist from Brett Jankouskas in the 62nd minute of the match.
Ledgeway registered three saves in the match. Tolleson and senior Bruno Mbamala fired a team-high three shots each, with two of Mbamala's attempts on goal.
The Falcons return to action Wednesday, Oct. 9 with a home match at Varsity Field against the University of North Georgia.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
