Saints earn the narrow 1-0 win over Falcons

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – On Saturday afternoon, Flagler scored midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead on the University of Montevallo women's soccer team at the half. The Falcons came storming back in the second half, amassing more shots and more shots on goal than the Saints. However, Montevallo would be unable to find the back of the net, and the Saints left Varsity Field with the 1-0 victory.

In the 27th minute, Flagler's Megan Poth put a ball in the box for Evy Jacobs, who was able to slip it past Montevallo's Katie Pearson for the goal.

The goal moved Jacobs' season point total up to seven, which makes her the team leader.

Pearson made six stops in the first half, but did not have to make any in the second, as the Falcons did not allow any shots on goal after halftime.

UM opened the second half with two early corner kicks and managed to get consistent pressure in the final 45 minutes, but was not able to get one past Kaeta Choquette. Choquette posted her first shutout of the year in only her second start.

Taylor Gonzales, Emma Greenwood, and Jade Pennock each had a shot on goal for the Falcons, and Greenwood had two shots to lead the team.

Flagler is now .500 in conference play, evening their PBC record to 3-3.

Montevallo (0-7-1, 0-5-1) returns to home action on Wednesday, October 15th. Georgia Southwestern will come to town for a 5 p.m. start.
