MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo junior Rebekah Phelps led the Falcons with 15 kills in a 3-1 win over visiting Georgia College in Peach Belt Conference play Oct. 14 at Trustmark Arena.
Phelps also registered 13 digs as she posted her 10th double-double of the season for the Falcons, who defeated the Bobcats 25-19, 17-25, 28-26, 25-22 in four sets.
Senior Sarah Guidry added 14 kills and nine digs for Montevallo, which improved to 15-7 overall and 7-3 in Peach Belt Conference play. Sophomore Chandler Cooper contributed 11 kills. Senior Katie Best, who registered a team-high six blocks, finished with nine kills and freshman Kristy Bohan chipped in six kills.
Junior Briana Marquez, who finished with a team-high 43 assists, recorded two kills.
Junior Carissa Bell finished with a team-high 26 digs.
The Falcons used a 5-0 run, capped with a kill by Best, midway through the opening set to secure a 25-19 win in the frame.
After dropping the second set 25-17, Montevallo bounced back with a 28-26 win in the third set after breaking a tie with a kill by Best and an attack error by the Bobcats.
Cooper recorded the final kill in the match to secure the Falcons' 25-22 win in the fourth set.
The Falcons will return to action Friday, Oct. 24 with a Peach Belt Conference match Oct. 24 at Trustmark Arena.
