AIKEN, S.C. – In a matchup of two of the Peach Belt's top three teams in the standings, the USC Aiken Pacers were victorious over the University of Montevallo men's soccer team on Saturday, winning 3-0.
The Pacers wasted little time before putting themselves out in front of the Falcons, scoring just 22 seconds into the game. Noel Mais, who is tied for the PBC lead in goals scored, was able to get the ball past reigning conference keeper of the week, Yannic Horn.
Jan Wester got the assist on the opening goal, and less than five minutes later, he would get on the board on his accord. Wester's first goal of the year came on a header after an Andre Simmond corner. It was Simmond's team-leading eighth assist.
Aiken again was able to score once more before the half was out. It was Simmond who put his team ahead by three goals on a penalty kick.
The halftime score of 3-0 would hold up throughout the entire second half, and USC Aiken was able to bump their impressive record up to 10-2-1.
Nikola Klacar led the Falcons in shots, while Ram Gilad and Alex Morton each had a shot on goal.
It's a quick turnaround for Montevallo (6-4-3, 3-3-2), the team will host Christian Brothers on Monday, October 20.
