MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team struck first in Saturday night's match with the Georgia College Bobcats, but eventually fell to the conference foe by the final score of 3-1.

Though no goals were scored in the first half of the contest, the Falcons got far and away the better chances to open things up. A lot of great balls and timely runs created good chances for the home team, but they were unable to capitalize, and there was a scoreless halftime score.

In the opening frame, Montevallo outshot GC 12-4. Their constant pressure created six corners kicks, while the Bobcats did not get any.

The momentum from the first half carried over to the start of the second, as senior Octavia Saunders came up from the backline on a corner kick from Camilla Alderin and put one just below the crossbar for her second goal of the season.

The 1-0 lead for the Falcons would last for more than 20 minutes, but the visiting Bobcats were able to even it up at 69:14, when Ally Barys scored her second goal of the year.

A few minutes later, Rahliat Animashaun tallied the first goal of her collegiate career, giving the lead to Georgia College. She snuck past Montevallo keeper Katie Pearson with a left-footed tap in the box.

As time wound down, and the Falcons were pushing to score the equalizer, Abby Dalton was able to give the Bobcats a two goal cushion. An aggressive Pearson came way out of net in hopes of securing the ball for one last run.

Sol Baldassini, Dalton, and Rebekah Autry all were credited with assists in the 3-1 Georgia College win.

Jade Pennock and Saunders each had four shots for UM.

Montevallo will return to action against Columbus State this Wednesday, October 29.
