MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's soccer team lost their first conference matchup of the year on Saturday, dropping a 1-0 contest to Lander University.
The Bearcats (5-2-1) were quick to strike on Saturday. Jose Cubillan was able to put the ball in the back of the net for an unassisted goal at 10:53.
It was an evenly contested first half, with Lander recording eight shots to Montevallo's six, and both teams put two shots on goal.
Unfortunately for the Falcons, they were unable to even the game up in the second half, despite getting some pressure and having four corner kicks after halftime.
Kyle Stuller, Nikola Klacar, Ram Gilad, and Jeffrey Hessenberger all had two shots in the game for Montevallo.
Montevallo (4-2-3, 1-1-2) hits the road next week, traveling to the University of North Georgia to take on the Nighthawks on Wednesday, October 8.
