SAVANNAH, Ga. – In the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, the University of Montevallo volleyball team dropped a three set match to the top-seeded Pirates from Armstrong State.
This marked the second consecutive year that the Falcons advanced to the final four of the tournament, only to be knocked out by the regular season champions.
Armstrong State was led by First Team All-Peach Belt Conference performers Stephanie Sfara and Emily Wylie. Sfara and Wylie were the match leaders in kills, recording 15 and 13, respectively.
Senior Sarah Guidry had 12 kills, which was the most for Montevallo. She did her damage on just 25 attacks, which was good for a hitting percentage of .480, considering she had no errors.
Guidry was named to the All-Tournament team.
Briana Marquez had 21 assists for Montevallo.
Rebekah Phelps and Chandler Cooper had four kills each, while Kristy Bohan and Katie Best each had three kills.
Carissa Bell, who was named the co-Libero of the Year in the Peach Belt Conference earlier in the day, had 10 digs in the match.
