TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Facing a tough test on the road against an Elite Eight team from last season, the University of Montevallo men's basketball team fell just short on Saturday night, dropping the game at Tuskegee, 77-72.
The Falcons (1-4) had an impressive night from both the floor and the free throw line. UM shot an outstanding 57.5% from the field and 72% from the foul line.
Montevallo also was right at 50% from behind the three-point line.
Leading the way for the visiting team was Ryan May, who made five of his seven shots from deep on his way to a game-high 22 points.
Fellow senior Shykeem Jackson also hit more than half his three-point attempts, going 3-for-5 and scoring 11 points overall.
Malik Fields had 11 points as well and played all but one minute of the game.
Larry Slaughter had 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the year.
It's a quick turnaround for the Montevallo Falcons, as they will host Carver College this Monday, November 24.
