SAVANNAH, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team suffered their second conference loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to perennial Peach Belt power Armstrong State, 5-0.
The Falcons were able to keep the Pirates off the board for much of the first half, but Armstrong State was able to break through before the two teams went to break. Taylor Valley scored the first goal of the day, and her fifth of the year, at 21:27.
At the half, Armstrong State led Montevallo 1-0.
The Pirates came into the second period looking to separate themselves from their competition, and were able to do so with a flurry of goals.
Exactly one minute into the second half, Amanda Green gave Armstrong State their second goal of the game. Green had the assist on the tally.
Not long after that, Green got on the board again, this time with a header. Green's second goal of the day put the Pirates up by three and was assisted by Michelle Allen.
Valley got back into the scoring action at 49:21 with her sixth goal of the season that made it a 4-0 lead for the home team. Allen again had the assist.
The fifth goal and final goal of the game for the Pirates completed the hat trick for Valley. Her seventh goal of the year completed her seven point day.
Montevallo (0-4) continues their way through a tough Peach Belt slate this Wednesday. The Falcons travel to Morrow, Ga. to take on the defending PBC Champion Lakers of Clayton State.
