Braves top the Falcons, 59-48

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball team fell in a conference game to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Braves on Saturday afternoon, 59-48.

Junior Katherine Goldsby recorded her first double-double of the year, grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds in addition to her 14 points. Six of Goldsby's rebounds were offensive boards. She was the second leading scorer on the team.

As a team, Montevallo outrebounded UNCP 42-36.

Jacquelyn Thompson, a junior from Huntsville, Alabama, led the Falcons in points on the day, scoring 17. Thompson hit all six of her free throws in the contest.

Both Goldsby and Thompson led Montevallo in minutes played, with 30 minutes on the floor apiece.

Junior Jasmine Thomas also had double digit points, dropping 10 points off the bench.

Senior Carrington Caise had four points to go along with four rebounds and a team-high five assists.

In the post, junior Katie Colson grabbed five rebounds.

Montevallo (1-12, 0-6) will be back on the road this Wednesday, January 14, traveling to Young Harris to take on the Mountain Lions.

That game will tip at 4:30 p.m.
