HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo and USC Aiken settled for a 1-1 tie after a goal by the Falcons in the opening half and a second-half equalizer by the Pacers.

Soheyl Rafi scored the second goal of his career in the 36th minute of the contest to give Montevallo a 1-0 lead. Rafi, who has scored in back-to-back games for the Falcons, scored on a rebound attempt after a shot by teammate Sebastian Kraus was deflected by the USC Aiken keeper.

USC Aiken tied the match at 1-1 in the opening minute of the second half when a foul was called on the Falcons inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Pacers. Andre Simmond put the penalty kick in the back of the net for the equalizer.

Montevallo goalkeeper Yannic Horn, who was credited with nine saves, kept the Pacers in check the rest of the way.

STAT OF THE MATCH

USC Aiken finished with a 20-6 advantage in shots in the match and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

The Falcons' 1-1 tie with the Pacers marked the first draw of the season for the Falcons through 13 matches.

Kraus was credited with his fourth assist of the season when his deflected shot attempt resulted in Rafi's goal.

Montevallo will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 21 with a road trip to Huntsville, Alabama to take on UAH in a non-conference match. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
