Montevallo volleyball adds Rutledge in fall signing period

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo volleyball coach Katie O'Brien is pleased to announce the signing of Olivia Rutledge during the NCAA early signing period.

Rutledge will enroll at the University in the fall of 2016 as a freshman after graduating from Fleming Island High School in Orange Park, Florida in the spring.

Rutledge is a 5-foot-8 versatile athlete who played three positions in high school, including libero, defensive specialist and outside hitter.

Rutledge finished her senior season with 138 kills and 157 digs while competing for Fleming Island High School in Florida High School Athletic Association Class 7A. Rutledge has been nominated for a pair of postseason honors following her senior season, Academic All-American and Senior Aces by PrepVolleyball.com.

Rutledge was named a first team All-Clay County selection and a first team All-Conference selection as a junior while also being named a second team All-Area selection by the Florida Times Union.

She was named a All-First Coast honorable mention selection by the Florida Times Union and a Super Soph 79 selection by PrepVolleyball.com following her sophomore season. Rutledge was also named a Fab Frosh 59 honorable mention selection by PrepVolleyball.com as a freshman.

Rutledge was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll at Fleming Island.
