HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons opened the game with a 8-5 run, capped with a 3-pointer by junior Jazmine Stubblefield, before Faulkner ended the period with a 11-4 run to take a 16-12 lead.
The Eagles extended their lead to 18-12 on a jumper by Shelby Williams early in the second period, marking their largest lead in the opening half. Montevallo managed to trim the deficit to 28-27 at halftime when senior Katherine Goldsby knocked down a free throw with under 30 seconds remaining in the second period.
Montevallo took its first lead in the second half when Stubblefield knocked down a 3-pointer with 6:40 left in the third period, which gave the Falcons a 34-33 advantage.
A jumper by sophomore D'Miyah Foster gave Montevallo its largest lead in the second half with 3:24 left in the third period, which put the Falcons on top 44-39.
A 5-0 run to end the period by the Eagles tied the game at 44-44 heading into the final period. A layup by Brandy Allen with 7:11 remaining in the game capped a 11-0 run by Faulkner and gave the Eagles a 50-44 lead.
A 3-pointer by senior Jacquelyn Thompson cut the Eagles' lead to 54-52 with 4:35 left in the game, but the Falcons' shooting went cold down the stretch as Faulkner made 5-of-7 free throws late in the contest to end the game on a 9-0 run and seal the victory.
