HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first period Lander jumped out to an early lead off of a three point jumper.  The Falcons answered right back with a three pointer from Jacquelyn Thompson to tie the game at 3-3.  That was the closest the Falcons got as Lander began to find their offensive rhythm.  After Lander pushed the lead to 13-7, the Flacons started to rally and closed to within one of the lead off another three-pointer from Thompson.  Lander then went on a 7-0 run to push the lead to eight points.  The period ended with the Falcons trailing 27-19.

In the second period the Falcons were held to 11 points by the Bearcats.  A 12-1 run by Lander pushed the lead to 19 and the Falcons trailed by 19 points.  The Falcons struggled to slow down the Lander offensive assault as the Bearcats finished the period on a 17-5 run to head into halftime leading the Falcons 61-32.

The Falcons struggles continued in the second half as they were unable to close in on the lead of the Bearcats.  The period ended with the Falcons trailing Lander 77-33. 

In the fourth period the Bearcats continued their offensive assault and the Falcons struggled to contain it.  The Falcons were outscored 21-12 in the final period and the Bearcats cruised to a 98-56 victory.

STAT OF THE GAME

Thompson led the Falcons in scoring and was one of two Montevallo player to score in double figures.  Her 20 points today set a new personal season high.

With today's performance Thompson also set a new rocord for the Falcons in the NCAA era.  Thompson's five 3-pointers today gave her 207 for her career which surpasses the previous record of 204 set by Jennifer Hendricks (2004-08) 

Morgan Smith was the other Falcon to score in double figures with 10 points.
