HOW IT HAPPENED
Today's match up started as a back and forth affair as neither team was able to create separation from the other.
In the first period the Falcons were able to get out to a five-point lead but the Braves kept fighting their way back into the game to finish the period tied at 12-12.
In the second period the Falcons started the period off with a 7-0 run to jump out to a 19-12 lead, their largest of the game. The Braves kept cutting into the Falcons lead and tied the game up at 20-20 with 2:28 left in the half. The Falcons took a 24-22 lead into halftime after a Morgan Smith jump shot found the bottom of the net with 17 seconds remaining.
After the break the Falcons fought to retain the lead as the Braves made a charge to overtake them. The Falcons were able to get out to a four point lead in the third period before the Braves tied the game at 33-33 with 1:33 left in the period. A 3-pointer by the Braves gave them the lead with a minute left in the period. The Falcons headed into the game's final period trailing the Braves 36-35.
In the fourth period the Falcons were able to pull within one point of the lead. That was the closest they got as the Braves went on an 8-0 run to put the game out of reach. Despite the Falcons best efforts the Braves sealed the 60-50 victory in the games final minutes.
STAT OF THE GAME
The Falcons were 19-of-58 from the field for 32.8 percent shooting and also went 8-of-15 from the free throw line.
Courtney McKenzie led the team with 12 points and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Smith, Katherine Goldsby, and Jazmine Stubblefield each pulled down eight boards to lead the team in rebounding.
