Falcons Cruise to 6-0 Win over USC Aiken in Final Regular Season Game

HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Falcons got out early on the Pacers and dominated the game from the very beginning. In the 14th minute, Montevallo got on the board when Taylor Gonzales found the back of the net.  Taylor Garrison took a shot that rebounded off the goalie and Gonzales took advantage to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

-Five minutes later the Falcons struck again.  This time, Gonzales fed a chip pass into the box for Tylor Ring who found goal from about five yards out.

-The Falcons scored their third goal of the game when Hannah Williamson took a penalty kick and was able to beat the goalkeeper and gave the Falcons a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

-Montevallo took a 4-0 lead after only four minutes had expired in the second half.  Ally Reeves was on the receiving end of a cross from Michaela Longenecker. Longenecker's cross was perfectly placed and found Reeves who was two yards out for the score.

-Gonzales scored her second goal of the game in the 70th minute with a shot from two yards out.  Abby West was able to feed a short pass to Gonzales after controlling the ball in traffic on the left side of the box. Gonzales' goal gave the Falcons a 5-0 lead.

-The Falcons final goal of the game came in the 80th minute off the boot of Michaila Franklin.  Franklin was able to break free and made a run up the middle. Goalkeeper Karin Cadwalader came out to oppose Franklin, who was able to dribble the keeper and made an easy shot from 10 yards out.  Franklin's goal gave the Falcons a 6-0 lead.

STAT OF THE GAME

The Falcons tied their record of goals scored this season with six today.  The 6-0 victory for Montevallo is also their largest margin of victory this season.

UP NEXT

With today's victory, the Falcons have qualified for a spot in the PBC Tournament.  The Falcons will now wait to see where they play.  The quarterfinal match will be played on Wednesday, November 2nd on the campus of the highest seed.
