HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons and the Golden Tigers faced off for the first time since the 2006-07 season. This meeting marked the seventh time both programs have faced each other in the regular season.
-The game got off to a slow start as each team struggled to find their offensive rhythm. The Falcons got on the board first with a free throw by Ashley Dunstan early in the game. The Golden Tigers took the lead a few possessions later when they went up 2-1 on a pair of made free throws. That one point lead was the only lead the Golden Tigers had all night. The Falcons led by as much as eight points but the Golden Tigers rallied late in the period to pull within two of the lead as the opening period ended with Montevallo leading 12-10.
-Morgan Smith led the way on offense for the Falcons in the first period, while RayVon Christian held down the boards on the defensive end, grabbing six defensive rebounds in the opening period of play.
-In the second period, the Falcons strung together a pair of runs to get out to a 16-point lead midway through the second period. Haven Albright went 2-of-4 from behind the arc and 4-of-6 from the field in the second period to fuel the Falcons' attack.   Christian continued to dominate in the paint as she grabbed four additional boards and tallied six points. The Falcons headed into the break with a 38-27 lead over the Golden Tigers.
-In the third period, Tuskegee tried to rally back but each time the Falcons had an answer. Morgan Smith and Christian continued to break any rally the Golden Tigers made. Smith recorded six points in the period, hitting from long range once. Christian continued to make her presence felt in the paint as she added six points and six more rebounds to her total.
-The Falcons were able to maintain their lead over the Golden Tigers, who were only able to cut the lead to seven in the final period of play. Montevallo came away with their first victory of the season, a 75-65 win over Tuskegee.
