HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo opened the PBC-SIAC Challenge with a 90-80 win over visiting Lane College in the nightcap of the opening day of the event Nov. 18.
The Falcons raced out to a 54-38 lead over the Dragons at the half thanks to 50 percent shooting from the floor in the first 20 minutes. Freshman Micah Fuller was on fire from beyond the arc, knocking down four 3-pointers in the opening half.
The Dragons mounted a second half comeback and managed to trim the deficit to 69-66 following a 3-pointer by Jamier Mix with 8:50 remaining in the game.
Senior Javonte Douglas knocked down a key 3-pointer with 2:11 remaining in the game as Montevallo was able to extend its lead back to double figures down the stretch.
The victory gave Montevallo head coach Danny Young his 300th win with the Falcons in his 14th season at the helm.
