HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo defeated Tuskegee for the second time in seven days in a 67-58 win over the Golden Tigers on the road. The victory marked the Falcons' first win on the road at Tuskegee since December 2005.
Tuskegee jumped out to a 17-11 lead early in the opening half following a 3-pointer by Austin Cherry with 10:13 remaining in the first half.
Senior Kevin Kelly knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:28 remaining in the half to tie the game at 29-29 before a layup by Travis Flagg in the final minute of the opening half gave the Golden Tigers a 31-29 advantage at halftime.
The Falcons used a 12-0 run midway through the second half to take control of the game. Senior Javonte Douglas drained a 3-pointer with 12:53 remaining in the game to give Montevallo a 50-39 lead, which marked its first double-digit lead and largest in the contest.
A layup by Alex Perry helped Tuskegee trim the margin to 57-55 with 2:53 left in the game before the Falcons ended the contest with a 10-4 run to clinch the victory.
STAT OF THE GAME
Montevallo knocked down 26-of-34 attempts at the charity stripe and the Falcons' 76 percent shooting from the free-throw line was the highest of the season.
