HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Falcons and the Golden Bears played a back and forth first period that saw the Falcons lead by as many as five points.  However, Miles was able to rally back late in the period to take a 21-18 lead.  Both teams put an emphasis on dominating the paint with Miles outscoring Montevallo 12-10.  The Falcons took advantage of Miles sloppy ball handling and scored 12 of their points off turnovers.

-The Golden Bears held the lead for the entire second period and took a 40-36 advantage into halftime.  Ashley Dunstan led the Falcons in the second period with six points and shot 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

-In the third period, the Falcons rallied back to tie the game and then took the lead with 3:35 left in the period.  Alba Perez gave the Falcons their first lead of the second half with a pair of free throws.  Haven Albright went 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from behind the arc to tally up 11 points in the third period.

-The fourth period started off with an Albright 3-pointer that tied the game for the seventh time on the night.  Miles was able to jump ahead by as many as six points in the final period before the Falcons rallied back.  In the final minute of the period, the Falcons took a three-point lead with 26 seconds remaining.  A pair of free throws from Miles College cut the Falcons lead down to one point.  After Albright went 1-for-1 from the line with 19 seconds left, a 3-point play by the Golden Bears gave them the lead that they would not surrender.  Montevallo had a chance to take the lead but a pair of missed free throws down the stretch kept the Falcons from mounting another late game comeback.
