Montevallo featured five players in double figures on its way to a 91-71 win over visiting Armstrong State University in a Peach Belt Conference contest at Trustmark Arena.

The Falcons used a 9-0 run midway through the first half to jump out to a 24-16 advantage, their largest lead in the first 20 minutes, following a layup by junior Tighe Oberg with 10:38 remaining in the half.

Montevallo held onto the lead for the next nine minutes before a 3-pointer by Corey Tillery gave the Pirates a 36-35 lead with 1:57 remaining in the half. Armstrong State carried a 42-39 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Falcons went on a 15-0 run early in the second half to extend their lead to 63-48 on a jumper by senior Javonte Douglas with 13:44 remaining in the second half.

Armstrong State was unable to trim the deficit to single digits the rest of the way as the Falcons extended their lead to 20 points for the first time on a pair of free throws by Taylor with 1:18 remaining in the game.

Douglas, who only had three points in the first half, had a monster second half and earned his fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Senior Kevin Kelly finished with a career-high 19 points and senior Jamaar Taylor registered his first double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Tony Bagtas contributed 13 points and senior Talan Whitaker finished with 12 points in the victory.
