HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo clinched at least a share of the Peach Belt Conference West Division championship for the fifth year in a row with a 84-67 win on the road at Young Harris in its final regular season game.
The Falcons opened the contest with a 18-10 run, capped with a jumper by senior Tevin Worthy with 13:04 remaining in the first half.
Young Harris responded with a 12-2 run, capped with a three-point play by C.J. Wilson, to take a 22-20 lead with 8:21 left in the opening half.
Montevallo closed the first half with a 7-2 run and carried a 39-33 lead into the locker room at halftime following a 3-pointer by senior Bryant Orange in the final seconds of the opening half.
The Falcons began the second half with a 7-2 run and took their first double-digit lead following a layup by junior Kevin Kelly, which gave Montevallo a 46-35 advantage with 18:22 remaining in the game.
Montevallo led by as many as 25 points down the stretch following a three-point play by Worthy, which gave the Falcons a 74-49 lead with eight minutes left in the contest.
Young Harris trimmed the Falcons' lead to 78-66 following a jumper by Marcellus Roberts with 1:54 remaining. The Falcons made all four free-throw attempts in the final minute to keep the lead in double digits.

Senior Malik Fields finished a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor as he contributed 12 points off the bench.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS
Senior Bryant Orange registered a career-high six steals in the victory at Young Harris.
Junior Kevin Kelly tied his career high with seven rebounds in the win over the Mountain Lions.
Senior Terrell Lipkins contributed 16 points, reaching double figures in scoring for the 25th time in 26 games this season.

Montevallo will host Armstrong State in a Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinal contest Saturday, Feb. 27 at Trustmark Arena. The Falcons earned the No. 2 seed in the West Division and Armstrong State will come to Montevallo as the No. 3 seed in the East Division. Tip off time is to be determined.
