HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons took a two-run lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run single to left field by senior Thomas Bradey.
  • USC Aiken trimmed the Falcons' lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI single by Zach Moon.
  • A two-run double to left-center field by senior Taylor Walker gave Montevallo a 4-1 lead in the top of the second inning.
  • Tyler Ammerman lined a RBI double into left field to trim the Falcons' lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the second inning.
  • Montevallo plated three runs to take a 7-2 lead in the top of the third inning, which featured a RBI sacrifice fly by freshman Tyler Krabbe, a RBI single to center field by senior Chase Bryant and a RBI single through the left side of the infield by senior Jeremy Hyde.
  • The Falcons added four runs to take a 11-2 advantage in the top of the fourth inning, which saw junior Daniel Pardo score on an error by USC Aiken and included a RBI sacrifice fly by Krabbe, a RBI single to center field by Bryant and a RBI single through the right side of the infield by junior Dane Hutcheon.

  • Following a rain/lightning delay lasting more than two hours, junior Alex Pondick came in and shut down the Pacers with four strikeouts as he recorded the final seven outs and clinched the victory.
  • Senior Aron McRee started on the mound and allowed six earned runs on 10 hits with a strikeout as he improved to 7-2 on the mound.

STAT OF THE DAY

Relievers Tanner Koch and Alex Pondick combined for six strikeouts while pitching the final three innings and helping Montevallo secure the win over the Pacers.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

Senior Chase Bryant registered a career-high four hits as he finished 4-for-5 at the plate while driving in a pair of runs and scoring four runs.

Montevallo has now won a game in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament for the fourth time in four appearances, with the 15-9 victory over USC Aiken securing a winning record for the Falcons.
