HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo scored the first two runs in the game in the bottom of the second inning when senior Thomas Bradey led off the frame with a single to left field before scoring on a passed ball and sophomore Chad Wagner, who singled in the inning, came around to score on RBI single to center field by freshman Tyler Krabbe.
- Lander trimmed the Falcons' lead to 2-1 in the top of the third inning when Mason Dodd led off the frame with a single up the middle and scored on a RBI double to right-center field by Matt White.
- The Bearcats took a 4-2 lead after plating three runs in the top of the fourth inning, which saw Dodd plate a run on a RBI single to right field before scoring on an error by the Falcons and also included RBI double by Alex Conaway.
- The Falcons trimmed the Bearcats' lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when senior Jeremy Hyde reached on a double to right-center field before scoring on a RBI single through the right side by junior Daniel Pardo.
- Montevallo tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning after Krabbe was hit by a pitch and scored a RBI double down the right-field line by senior Chase Bryant.
- Lander took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning on a lead-off solo home run by White.
- The Falcons tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth inning when junior Daniel Furuto led off with a single to center field before scoring on a RBI double down the left-field line by Krabbe.
- The Bearcats took a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth inning on a solo shot to right field by Zach Daly with one out in the frame.
- The bottom of the ninth inning was interrupted by a lightning delay lasting for more than one hour before Pardo popped out in foul territory near the Bearcats' dugout to end the game.
- Sophomore Kale Latorre (1-3) took the loss despite allowing just two hits, both solo home runs, and striking out three in 4 1/3 innings in relief.
