HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons took care of business quickly in a 3-0 sweep of Merrimack in their first match on the second day of the USC Aiken Invitational.
The Warriors put up their biggest challenge in the opening set before Montevallo escaped with a 25-23 win in the frame. Merrimack led 19-13 late in the set before the Falcons ended the frame with an impressive 12-4 run to clinch the victory after a series of attack errors by the Warriors.
The Falcons were dominant in a 25-13 win in the second set. Montevallo took a 15-8 lead midway through the frame following a kill by junior Kristy Bohan and capped the victory with a kill by junior Natalie Twyford.
Montevallo clinched the match with a 25-20 victory in the third and final set. Merrimack had the upper hand early and led 15-10 following a kill by Catherine Flaherty. However, the Falcons reeled off a 15-5 run down the stretch and Bohan contributed three kills late in the frame to help Montevallo close out the win.

Montevallo held a 12-4 advantage in blocks in the win over Merrimack.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS
Sophomore Shannon Dudley registered a season-high .455 hitting percentage as she finished with six kills on 11 total attacks in the victory over the Warriors.
Senior Hannah Christie posted a match-high 31 assists, marking the seventh consecutive match to open the season the Falcons' setter has finished with 30 or more assists.
