HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo defeated UNC Pembroke 3-0 in its first road match in Peach Belt Conference play this season.

The Falcons raced out to a 5-1 lead in the opening set following three early kills by junior Kristy Bohan on their way to a 25-15 win in the frame. Montevallo used a 7-0 run midway through the set to put the Braves away.

UNC Pembroke battled the Falcons early in the second frame before Montevallo pulled away for a 25-15 victory in the set. Bohan recorded a kill to start a 13-5 run to end the frame before also accounting for the final two kills in the set.

Montevallo closed out the sweep with a 25-19 win over the Braves in the third and final set. The Falcons jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the frame following a kill by freshman Brioni Dixon. Montevallo held off a furious rally by UNC Pembroke down the stretch before junior Natalie Twyford clinched the match with a kill.

STAT OF THE GAME

The Falcons registered an impressive .390 hitting percentage in the victory and recorded a hitting percentage of .300 or above in each set for the second time in the past four matches.
