HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo dominated Francis Marion in a 74-49 victory over the Patriots in Peach Belt Conference play to extend the Falcons' winning streak to six games.

The Falcons got off to a fast start after a pair of free throws by senior Talan Whitaker gave Montevallo a 9-2 lead less than three minutes into the contest.

Francis Marion managed to tie the game at 20-20 following a pair of free throws by Judah Alexander with 6:48 remaining in the first half before the Falcons closed the half with an impressive 21-2 run to take a 41-22 lead into the locker room at the break. Senior Logan Kelley knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:18 left in the half to give the Falcons' their largest lead in the first 20 minutes.

A 3-pointer by Warren Specht with 17:19 remaining in the game trimmed the Falcons' lead to 46-27, but it was the only time the Patriots managed to get the deficit under 20 points in the second half.

Montevallo led by as many as 33 points in the second half following a 3-pointer by junior Jamaar Taylor, which gave the Falcons a 69-36 lead with 5:26 left in the game.

STAT OF THE GAME

Senior Javonte Douglas posted his sixth double-double of the season with a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

The Falcons travel to Augusta, Georgia to take on Augusta University in a Peach Belt Conference contest Saturday, Jan. 7. Tip off at Christenberry Fieldhouse is set for 3:30 p.m. Eastern/2:30 p.m. Central.
