Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Montevallo Falls to Lee 3-0 on Senior Night

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team was held scoreless in a Gulf South Conference clash that was dominated by the visiting Flames.

Lee, who captured a berth in the Gulf South Tournament with today's victory, was on the front foot from the first whistle.

After a dominant opening quarter of the game, Kate Carney had a shot parried by Sydney Young before a second attempt was blocked by defender Christiane Malone. The rebound fell to Riley Engels who opened the scoring in the 21st minute and gave the visiting Flames a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons offered a response and had three of their four shots in the opening half.

Montevallo was unlucky to go down two right before the break, but Lee's performance merited the two-goal advantage. Substitutes Carly Smoltz and Isabelle Berthoud linked up to double the lead.

Judith Perez-Bayon was brought in goal in the second half and made three saves before being beaten late by Summer Lanter. Lanter scored her ninth goal of the season in the final 10 minutes to add a third goal
