CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team swept the University of West Georgia 3-0 in a Gulf South Conference match before coming back from a two-set deficit to defeat Augusta University 3-2 in a neutral-site match at The Coliseum on the West Georgia campus Oct. 28.
Freshman Amanda Nugent posted the seventh double-double of her collegiate career in the Falcons' 3-0 sweep of West Georgia with a team-high 13 kills and 11 digs, which marked her third consecutive double-double.
Senior Kristy Bohan added 10 kills and four blocks. Junior Brie Blume finished seven kills and nine digs to go along with five service aces for the Falcons, who improved to 11-12 overall and 6-6 in Gulf South Conference play.
Sophomore Harley Masoner contributed a team-high 28 assists, while sophomore Michaela Henderson finished with 11 digs.
Nugent contributed her eighth double-double of the season after leading the Falcons with 13 kills and 11 digs in the 3-2 win over Augusta.
Bohan added 13 kills, while Blume finished with eight kills and nine digs to go along with three blocks.
Masoner finished with a team-high 32 assists, while Henderson contributed a team-high 16 digs.
The Falcons will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 31 in a Gulf South Conference match against the University of West Alabama at Trustmark Arena. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
Montevallo will be hosting a cookout and a costume contest sponsored by Housing and Residence Life and Counseling Services on Halloween Night.

- Montevallo got off to another hot start with a 15-8 run at the start of the second set following a kill by freshman Amanda Nugent and coasted to a 25-15 win in the frame.
- The Falcons broke open a tight third set and closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the frame following a kill by senior Jamesia Edmond.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Augusta closed out the opening set with a 10-1 run to overcome a three-point deficit and secure a 25-19 win in the frame.
- The Falcons again jumped out to a 11-7 lead in the second set following a service ace by freshman Liz Tisch, but Augusta used a 5-0 run midway through the frame to erase the deficit and held on for a 25-20 win in the frame.
- Montevallo went on a 5-0 run late in the third set and outscored the Jaguars 8-5 down the stretch to secure a 25-22 win in the third set following a kill by sophomore Harley Masoner.
- The Falcons tied the match at 2-2 following a 25-18 win over Augusta in the fourth set, with freshman Amanda Nugent providing the final kill to clinch the set.
- The Falcons overcame an early 6-4 deficit and closed out the fifth and final set with 11-5 run to clinch a 15-11 victory in the frame.
