Falcons Battle Bucs in 1-1 Draw

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo men's soccer program earned a 1-1 draw against Christian Brothers on Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference play.
Today's draw was the second of the year for the Falcons who are now 5-3-2 on the season and 2-1-2 in conference play. 

In the evenly contested match, the Falcons got on the board first in the 71'.  Montevallo was awarded a penalty kick and Joshua Keller converted the PK for his second goal of the season. 

Montevallo appeared to be in control until the Buccaneers were able to draw a foul and were awarded a penalty kick in the 77'.  Xavi Loa converted the penalty kick for the Buccaneers to tie the game at 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

71' | Joshua Keller successfully converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the season.

77' | Xavi Lao tied the game at 1-1 with a successful penalty kick.

GAME NOTES

  • ???????Montevallo earned their second draw of the season in today's game.  The Falcons also earned a draw against Gulf South Conference opponent Alabama-Huntsville.

  • Both teams took 16 shots in today's game.  The Falcons placed eight of their shots on goal to earn a 50 percent on goal percentage.

  • Robert Kuta turned away eight shots for the Falcons and now has 62 saves this season.

  • Joshua Keller led the team in shots with five in the game and placed two of his shots on frame.
