Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The University of Montevallo men's soccer team closed out the 2017 season with a 1-0 defeat to West Alabama in the GSC Men's Soccer Championships semifinal game.
The Falcons conceded the game-winning goal in the 29' of play on a deflected ball on a set piece that got past
Robert Kuta.
Montevallo turned the pressure on in the second half and created chances but was unable to convert them into a goal.
Josh Keller had the best chance for an equalizer in the second half but his strike from 20 yards out hit the crossbar and kicked back out into the field of play.
The Falcons finish the season with a 9-5-4 overall record and a 5-2-4 record in conference play.

29' | West Alabama scored the first goal of the game off a corner that was deflected into the goal.
GAME NOTES
- Montevallo was outshot in the game 23-11. West Alabama went on the attack in the opening half and shot the ball 15 times compared to the Falcons' three shots. In the second half, each team took eight shots.
- Robert Kuta recorded 10 saves in the game and it was his second highest amount of saves in a game this season.
- Cesare Marconi took a team-high five shots and placed one of them on goal.
- Montevallo held the advantage in corner kicks, winning the battle 6-4.
