HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo kicked off the 2017 with a 10-9 victory over Oklahoma Baptist.  The last meeting between the two teams saw it head into extra time and this season's matchup went down to the wire as well.

The Falcons got behind early in the matchup and conceded three straight goals to the Bison in the opening 10 minutes of the first half.  The Bison's Lauren McCormack scored the games' first two goals as Oklahoma Baptist took a 2-0 lead.

After surrendering another goal to trail the Bison 3-0, the Falcons got on the board with a goal from Georgi Griffin in the eighth minute. Six minutes later, Lauren Duckworth scored the Falcons second goal of the game off an assist from Jessica Culver to pull the Falcons to within one point, 3-2, of the lead.

The Bison outscored the Falcons 6-3 in the opening half of play.  Lara Schuetz scored the final Falcon goal of the half.

Montevallo came out of the break and went on a three-goal run to tie the game at 6-6.  Alyssa Kaminski scored back to back goals, which came nine seconds apart, to pull the Falcons to within one point of the lead.  Schuetz scored the equalizer with 26:42 remaining in the game.

After exchanging goals, the Falcons took the lead for the first time in the game at 8-7 off a Griffin goal with 19:04 remaining in the game. 

Culver finished the scoring for the Falcons with a pair of goals to give Montevallo a late 10-8 lead.  With 3:08 left, the Bison pulled the game to 10-9.  The Falcons held off a surging Bison squad to claim the 10-9 victory.
