HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons faced off against the Mississippi College Choctaws in a midweek contest and looked to extend their win streak to five games.

The Choctaws jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Falcons in the second inning with a solo homerun down the right field line.

In the top of the third inning, the Choctaws plated another run on a single that got through the right side to take a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Falcons scored a pair of runs to tie the game at 2-2.  The first run was plated on a Sebastian Samuels double that brought Caleb Ledbetter home to get the Falcons on the board.  The tying run was brought home when Mark Castellucci singled into left field to bring Dom DeVille around to score.

The Falcons broke the game open in the fourth inning with a three run homerun from Matthew Furuto that gave the Falcons a 5-2 lead.

After giving up two runs in the top of the fifth inning on a two run homerun to the Choctaws, the Falcons came back in the bottom of the inning to add another insurance run to their lead.  Castellucci drove in Samuels on a single to centerfield to take a 6-4 lead.

Justin Whitley (2-0) was credited with the win in today's game after coming in during the fifth inning and threw four scoreless innings.

Cas Silber was credited with a save, his second this season, after entering the game in the ninth inning and retiring the first three batters he faced.

STAT OF THE GAME

Whitley and Johnson both pitched four innings and combined to strike out seven batters and only allowed four runs.
