HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons and the Chargers met in Gulf South Conference play in the first of two meetings this season.
After giving up a pair of goals in the first minute of play, the Falcons got on the board in the fourth minute with a goal off the stick of Lara Schuetz to make it a 2-1 game.
The Falcons and the Chargers exchanged three-goal runs midway through the opening period. Lauren Duckworth recorded two unassisted goals and Georgia Griffin found goal for the other one to make it 5-4.
The Chargers went on a 10-2 run to end the half to take a 15-6 lead into halftime. Jessica Culver and Jami Hudak recorded the Falcons' final goals of the half.
The second half was evenly matched with the Chargers scoring one more goal than the Falcons in the half. The Chargers opened the half on a 5-0 run to jump out to a 20-6 lead over Montevallo.Â
The Falcons then went on a run of their own, scoring five straight goals over a 10-minute time span. Meghan Shea, Duckworth, and Culver each scored a goal for Montevallo, while Hudak netted two more goals.Â
In the final minute of play, the Chargers netted the game's final goal to make it a 21-11 ballgame.
STAT OF THE GAME
Duckworth and Hudak both recorded a hat trick in tonight's game. Duckworth also recorded an assist and was 3-of-3 in free position shots.
