HOW IT HAPPENED

Ashley Dunstan's 25 points fueled Montevallo over Young Harris on the way to their second conference win of the season with a 58-48 road victory.

Montevallo started the game with a 7-0 run to jump out early on the Mountain Lions in the first period.  Midway through the period, the Falcons' offense stalled and the Mountain Lions closed out the period on a 12-0 run to retake the lead, 15-9.

Young Harris led by as many as eight points in the second period before the Falcons were able to cut the lead to two points at halftime.  Dunstan led the Falcons in the period with 10 points in the period, going a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor.  Montevallo controlled the interior and outscored Young Harris 10-4 in the paint. The Falcons also took advantage of the Mountain Lions' turnovers scoring six points to only trail Young Harris 25-23 at the break.

The third period was evenly played between both sides and saw the lead change hands twice.  The Falcons retook the lead for the first time since the first period on a pair of free throws from Ashli Tyus with 1:15 remaining in the period.  A set of free throws in the final minute of the period gave Young Harris a 37-36 lead to end the third period.

In the fourth period, Montevallo retook the lead for the final time at the seven-minute mark thanks to a layup from Jasmine Stubblefield.  The Falcon defense took over from there by keeping the Mountain Lions off the glass and limiting their second chance opportunities.  Down the stretch, the Falcons hit their free throws, going 12-19 in the period, to hold off Young Harris and seal the 58-48 victory.

STAT OF THE GAME

To go along with Dunstan's 25 point performance, the Falcons outscored Young Harris  36-22 in the paint and forced the Mountain Lions into 23 turnovers.  Montevallo capitalized on those mistakes and outscored Young Harris 23-6 in points off turnovers.
