HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons and the Chargers met for the final time in the regular season with Alabama-Huntsville running away with a 22-7 victory over Montevallo.
The Chargers got on the board first with a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
Montevallo tallied three goals to take a 3-2 lead over the Chargers. The first goal of the run was scored by Lauren Duckworth in the second minute. Megan Shea and Jessica Culver also scored goals in the run for the Falcons.
The Chargers strung together a set of runs, the first was eight goals that gave the Chargers a 10-3 lead.
Jami Hudak put an end to the first run with a goal in the 21st minute off an assist from Georgi Griffin to make it a 10-4 match.
The Chargers strung together a set of four goals to take a 14-4 lead in the final two minutes of the first half.
Lauren Duckworth scored the final goal of the first half on a free-position shot with four seconds remaining in the half. The Falcons trailed the Chargers 14-5 at halftime.
In the second half, the Falcons were outscored 8-2 as the Chargers kept the pressure on every offensive possession.
Alyssa Kaminski and Jessica Culver each scored a goal in the second half for the Falcons.
