HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo picked up its second sweep in Peach Belt Conference play this season following a pair of 7-2 and 4-2 victories April 2 over visiting Augusta.
The Falcons scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning in game one. Junior Celestia Davlia had a lead-off double and then scored on a two-run single by sophomore Lady Sara Federico.
Freshman Mariel Bertossi and sophomore Lauren Van Steenwyk each added an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning, giving Montevallo the 5-2 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Federico hit a two-run homer to put the Falcons up 7-2. Senior Jocelyn Rivera picked up her 10th win of the season in the circle in a complete game while tying her career-high with six strikeouts.
In game two, sophomore Abbey Pratt stepped in the circle and recorded two strikeouts back-to-back in the top of the first inning. Pratt went on to strike out six more batters, tying her career-high of eight strikeouts in a complete-game victory.
Montevallo fell behind 1-0 early in the game following a solo homer by the Jaguars' Kristen Mills
Montevallo registered four run-scoring hits in a row in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead.
Freshman Brianna Stella, who did not play in the first game, went 3-for-4 in the second game with an RBI and a run scored. Junior Dylan Bailey went 2-for-2 on the day, recording two stand-up doubles, running her total to 11 doubles on the season.
STAT OF THE DAY
Montevallo's performance in the circle brought them a combined 14 strikeouts and only three earned runs on nine hits in both games. Senior Jocelyn Rivera picked up her 10th win of the season and sophomore Abbey Pratt won her seventh game in the circle.

The Falcons will travel to Columbus, Georgia for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader, Wednesday, April 5 against Columbus State University. First pitch in the opening game is set for 5 p.m. Eastern/4 p.m. Central.
