HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo saw its season come to an end following a 9-4 setback against Armstrong State in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
The Falcons plated three runs in the top of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Freshman Holly LaForce lined a double down the left-field line and junior Dylan Bailey was hit by a pitch before junior Kelsey Vining blasted a three-run blast to right-center field.
Armstrong State responded with four runs in the bottom half of the frame, including a two-run double by Jane Trzaska and a two-run homer by Autumn Parrish to take a 4-3 lead.
The Pirates added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning on a three-run homer by Logan Harrell to right field, which gave Armstrong State a 7-3 advantage.
Montevallo added a run in the top of the fourth inning when junior Lady Sarah Federico led off the frame with a walk and scored later on a wild pitch, which trimmed the deficit to 7-4.
Amstrong State scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Parrish and Macy Coleman to push its lead to 9-4.

The Falcons stranded six runners on the base paths, with Montevallo leaving the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning.
