HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo couldn't stave off a comeback by USC Aiken in a 12-11 setback against the Pacers in its final Peach Belt Conference contest of the season.
USC Aiken scored three runs in the top of the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Junior Caleb Ledbetter scored the Falcons' first run on an error by the Pacers in the bottom of the first inning.
The Falcons tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run homer to left-center field by senior Dominic DeVille.
Montevallo took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a RBI groundout by Daniel Pardo.
The Pacers tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the fifth inning on a solo homer by Nile Goings.
Freshman Sebastian Samuels gave the Falcons a 7-4 lead with his three-run homer to right field in the bottom of fifth inning.
USC Aiken trimmed the deficit to 7-5 with a solo homer by Skylar Mercado in the top of the sixth inning.
Senior Daniel Pardo blasted a two-run homer to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh inning to push the Falcons' lead to 9-5. Junior Collin Dupree added a RBI double later in the frame to push the lead to 10-5.
The Pacers cut the Falcons' lead to 10-7 following a two-run homer by Brian Parreira in the top of the eighth inning. A pair of RBI sacrifice fly outs by Ty Ammerman and Jose Bonilla cut the Montevallo lead to 10-9 later in the frame.
Senior Matthew Furuto blasted a solo shot to left-center field in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Montevallo a 11-9 advantage.
Mitchell Price homered to lead off the top of the ninth inning and Parreira blasted another two-run shot two batters later to give USC Aiken its 12-11 lead.
