CATAWBA, N.C. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team defeated Belmont Abbey College 3-1 in its final match Sept. 2 in the Catawba College Tournament.
The Falcons (2-1) bounced back after dropping the first set to claim the four-set victory as they finished with a .321 hitting percentage.
Junior Brie Blume paced the Falcons as she tied her career high with 17 kills while also registering eight digs in the match. Senior Kristy Bohan added 13 kills and freshman Evelina Teran contributed 10 kills.
Sophomore Harley Masoner finished with a career-best 42 assists.
Blume and Bohan were each named to the All-Tournament team following the conclusion of the event.
The Falcons will be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 5 in their home opener at Trustmark Arena against Miles College. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey used a 11-3 run to erase the Falcons' lead late in the opening set on its way to a 27-25 win in the frame.
- Brie Blume and Kristy Bohan recorded two kills each during a 11-4 run midway through the second set as Montevallo held off the Crusaders for a 25-20 win in the frame.
- Blume kickstarted a 6-0 run by Montevallo with a kill midway through the third set and the Falcons closed out a 25-18 win in the frame.
- Montevallo clinched the match with a 25-16 win in the fourth and final set after Blume recorded a pair of kills to cap a 18-9 run by the Falcons to open the frame.
