HOW IT HAPPENED

Romee Contreras took the ball away from a defender fired a shot past the Delta State goalkeeper that was deflected by a defender into the net to give the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.
46' | Contreras quickly took advantage of another turnover by Delta State in its own box, first firing a shot off the far post before recovering the rebound quickly enough to put a second chance back into the net and push the Falcons' lead to 2-0.
GAME NOTES
- The Falcons picked up an important victory to remain ahead of Delta State in conference standings with postseason play quickly approaching, sealing their spot in the conference tournament.
- Montevallo freshman Romee Contreras now leads the Falcons with eight goals this season after scoring three goals in the Falcons' past two matches.
- All four seniors saw playing time on Senior Day as Simone Nelson, Tayler Kukes, Sabrina Amador and Alex Zegarra played in the final home match of their collegiate careers.
- Junior Judith Perez-Bayon earned the start at goalkeeper and registered her third shutout in Gulf South Conference play while compiling three saves in the match.
- The Falcons finished with an 18-8 advantage in shots attempted, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal in the contest.
- Montevallo held a 7-1 edge in corner kick opportunities in the match.
- The Falcons were whistled for 10 fouls in the match, compared to three fouls by Delta State.
