HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior Wade Lowman scored the game's opening basket before Alabama went on a 8-0 run.
Junior D'Angelo Streeter knocked down three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt with 12:59 remaining in the first half to tie the game at 12-12.
The Crimson Tide responded with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take their first double-digit lead in the contest.
A free throw each from Lowman and junior Carl Johnson trimmed the deficit to 22-14 before Alabama ended the half with a 17-8 run to take a 39-22 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Junior De'Marco Owens scored the first basket in the second half before Alabama went on a 5-0 run to extend its lead to 44-24 with 17:22 remaining in the game.
GAME NOTES
- After the Falcons tied the contest at 12-12 with 12:59 remaining, Alabama went on a 19-2 run over the next 11 minutes to take a 31-14 lead before junior Carl Johnson made a pair of free throws to end the run.
- After Montevallo scored the first basket in the second half, the Crimson Tide went on a 16-4 run to push their lead to 55-28 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game.
- Alabama shot 48.4 percent from the floor, including 60 percent in the opening half, while the Falcons shot just 26 percent from the field.
- The Falcons held their own on the boards for the majority of the game before the Crimson Tide finished with a 43-32 rebounding advantage, including a 15-12 edge on the offensive boards.
- Montevallo finished with 21 turnovers, while Alabama only turned the ball over 10 times in the contest.
