HOW IT HAPPENED

Shelby Lowery plated the lone run in the game in the top of the fourth inning with her RBI triple after sophomore
Mariel Bertossi reached on a error by the Flames, who were ranked No. 11 nationally in the NFCA Division II preseason poll.

Jessica Boyd inherited a jam and pitched her way out of it to earn her first save of the season after pitching the final 1 2/3 innings.

•  Senior
Celestia Davila finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.

Lady Sarah Federico went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.  Â

Lauryn Garcia finished 1-for-3 at the plate.  Â

Alexis Bonanno started in the circle and allowed just one earned run on three hits with one strikeout and one walk in 3 1/3 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•  Montevallo scored the first run when senior
Darbi Duke reached on a walk and stole second base before scoring on an error by the Choctaws in the bottom of the third inning.
•  The Choctaws tied the score at 1-1 with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning. Â
•  An RBI single by Davila in the bottom of the fifth inning gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Choctaws scored four runs in the final two innings.
•  An RBI single by Federico in the bottom of the seventh inning accounted for the Falcons' final run in the game.
UP NEXT
The Falcons host Tuskegee University in a doubleheader Thursday, Feb. 22 at Orr Park. First pitch in the opener is set for 4 p.m.
