GAME NOTES

  • Lindenwood finished with 58 shots, including 35 shots on goal, compared to the Falcons' 17 shots and 12 shots on goal in the contest.
  • The Lions also edged the Falcons 42-23 in the battle for ground balls.
  • Freshman Thomas Vaesen finished with two goals and one assist as he contributed a team-best three points.
  • Sophomore Kyle Enkelmann scored the Falcons' only other goal in the contest.
  • Freshman Spencer Seiler led Montevallo with five ground balls.
  • Freshman Kyle Little finished with 16 saves in just more than 50 minutes at goalkeeper.
  • Freshman Preston Thompson recorded two saves in his first action with the Falcons at goalkeeper.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Sophomore Kyle Enkelmann scored the Falcons' first goal on an extra-man opportunity with 8:38 remaining in a low-scoring first period, which saw the Lions leading 2-1 after the first 15 minutes.
  • Freshman Thomas Vaesen scored the first of his two goals with 8:20 left in the second period, but Lindenwood outscored the Falcons 4-1 in the frame to carry a 6-2 lead into the break at halftime.
  • The Lions scored five more goals in the third period to push their lead to 11-2.
  • Vaesen scored his final goal with 2:38 remaining in the contest off an assist from freshman DeAndre Archie.
  • Lindenwood scored six goals in the final period to secure the 17-3 victory.
