Falcons fall on the road at Lee 17-12 in conference match

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell on the road at Lee University 17-12 in a Gulf South Conference match March 21.

Sophomore Jami Hudak scored three goals in the first half for the Falcons, but the Flames raced out to a 10-3 lead at halftime after ending the first half with five consecutive goals.

Lee managed to extend its lead to 16-6 midway through the second half before Montevallo (5-6 overall, 2-3 in Gulf South Conference) went on a 5-0 scoring run to trim the deficit to 16-11, but it was too late to mount a comeback.

Hudak led the Falcons with six goals in the contest. Freshman Nicole Pahnke contributed a career-high five assists in the match.

KEY GOALS

1st (29:40) | The Falcons took a quick lead after sophomore Jami Hudak scored the first goal just 20 seconds into the contest off an assist from freshman Nicole Pahnke.

1st (20:58) | Hudak scored her third goal in the match, and second in less than a two-minute span off assists from Pahnke and sophomore Janey Johnson, to help trim the deficit to 5-3 after Lee scored four goals in the first five minutes of the contest.

2nd (27:08) | Hudak again scored the first goal of the second half off an assist sophomore Alyssa Kaminski, which marked her first of two goals in the first seven minutes of the second half after scoring again off an assist from Pahnke with 23:06 remaining.

2nd (17:16) | Pahnke and Hudak connected for the fourth time in the contest as Hudak scored her sixth goal in the match.

2nd (12:46) | Junior Nabyl Jimenez became the first Falcon other than Hudak to score a goal with her unassisted goal late in the second half.

2nd (11:39) | Kaminski scored her first goal in the match off an assist from Jimenez.

2nd (7:36) | Pahnke, the reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, scored her first goal off an assist from Johnson.

2nd (4:43) | Johnson scored her first goal in the contest, which capped a run of five consecutive goals by Montevallo late in the match.


GAME NOTES

  • The Flames controlled 23 draws, compared to eight draws controlled by Montevallo in the match.
  • Lee converted 4-of-10 free-position attempts, while the Falcons went 0-for-1 in free-position attempts.
  • The Flames finished with a  35-24 edge in shots in the match, including a 31-21 advantage in shots on goal.
