Game 1
MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
- Sebastian Samuels went 4-of-4 from the plate in the game and scored twice and drove in a pair of runs in the lopsided victory.
- Chad Wagner was 4-of-5 from the dish and had an RBI and scored three times in the game.
- Eight of the starters for the Falcons recorded hits in the game with five of them recording multiple hits.
- Cas Silber (9-4) threw a complete game and notched the win for the Falcons. This is the second shutout of the season for Silber and it is also his second complete game of the season. Silber allowed three hits in his outing and struck out 12 batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo scored their first run of the game in the fourth inning when Sebastian Samuels doubled into left-center to score Chad Wagner and give Montevallo a 1-0 lead.
- Jason Cryar made it a 2-0 game in the top of the fifth inning with a solo home run to left field.
- Montevallo put the game out of reach in the sixth inning when they scored five runs to go up 7-0 on the Tigers. Jared Nixon had the big play in the inning when he singled through the right side to score two runs.
- The Falcons enforced the run rule after the seventh inning when they scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to seal up the 15-0 victory.
Game 2
MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
- Jason Cryar was 2-of-3 from the plate and had two RBI and scored a run in the victory.
- Tyler Krabbe drove in a pair of runs and went 1-of -3 from the plate.
- Alex Pondick (7-1) tossed a complete game and allowed five hits and a run in his outing. Pondick also struck out seven batters in the game and walked three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons scored their first runs of the game in the top of the sixth inning to go ahead 3-0. Tyler Krabbe was responsible for two of those runs and they came off a two-RBI home run to left field.
- In the top of the seventh inning, Jason Cryar scored two runs with a double down the right-field line to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the final frame, West Alabama scored one run to make it a 5-1 ballgame.
