HOW IT HAPPENED
 
16' | Sophomore Hannah Waki received the Falcons' first booking of the season after receiving a yellow card early in the match.

47' | Freshman Melanie Stevens fed the ball in the box to sophomore Samara Lino, who planted a shot inside the right post to give the Falcons the lead.

48' | Florida Tech netted the equalizer one minute later when the Panthers' Keira McCarthy received the ball from Maria Munoz and tucked a shot in the right side of the net.

70' | The match was suspended for more than two hours due to a lightning delay.

77' | Stevens scored a go-ahead goal seven minutes after play resumed when freshman Romee Contreras crossed the ball to her in the box off a corner kick by freshman Medhali Hernandez and she tapped it into the left side of the frame.

78' | Florida Tech answered in similar fashion when McCarthy again tied the contest one minute later with a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net off an assist from Sara Carroll.

GAME NOTES

  • Montevallo freshman Annie Mason earned the start at goalkeeper in her first match with the Falcons and split time with junior Judith Perez-Bayon.
  • Sophomore Kira Bochard registered a team-high two shots on goal in the contest.
  • Freshmen Romee Contreras and Medhali Hernandez fired off a team-high three shots.
  • Montevallo was picked to finish eighth in the Gulf South Conference preseason coaches poll.
  • Florida Tech was picked to finish in a tie for fourth in the Sunshine States Conference preseason coaches poll and received one first-place vote in the poll.
